Pakistan vs England – 1St Semis – Champions Trophy Preview

Pakistan takes on table toppers England in the Semifinals at Cardiff

Cardiff has turned out another venue for Pakistan with a lot of support. They should feel at home with the crowd behind them and the pitch conditions suiting their kind of bowling. The game is going to be played on the same strip as Monday’s game therefore should have worn out. Spinners should come into play sooner in this game. England will have their task cut out in this semi final game. Pakistan is known to up their games in the semi finals and finals events. The last time these two teams clashed in a semifinal or final encounter was in the 1992 world cup where Pakistan took home the trophy. They are also considering bolstering their middle order by bringing in Sarfraz Ahmed or Shoaib Malik.

England skipper isn’t letting any stone un-turned in their preparation to get to the final. “Getting to this stage of the tournament, we need results, and if that means somebody misses out, it’s unfortunate, but for the team’s sake we need to get results. We want to win this tournament.” Skipper Eoin Morgan spoke about dropping Jason Roy and bringing in Jonny Bairstow who despite limited opportunities thrown at him has come well with an average of 94.5 in the four ODIs he has played in 2017. England eye their first home win of a major ICC tournament but Pakistan & the winner of the other semifinals either India or Bangladesh stand in ahead challenging their march.
